Mezcal District is a unique mezcal seller that features organic mezcals produced in Oaxaca, Mexico utilizing time-honored traditions.

The mezcal is sourced from famous mezcalero Guilhermo Serrano, aka ‘El Brujo’ or ‘Master of Black Magic’.

Serrano learned the craft of making mezcal from his father like his father before him. He uses the traditional method of roasting the agave piñas in the earth and then crushing them with a tahona, or large stone mill, which is drawn by a horse. The mash is then left to ferment and the liquid produced is distilled in copper twice.

All of Mezcal District’s mezcals are made with 100% espadin agave. Espadin agave takes ten years to mature and Serrano, unlike many mass-producers, allows his agave to fully mature before harvesting. It is just one of his techniques in producing the best mezcal possible, while respecting the agave and earth, looking out for future generations.

The piña is cooked in the furnace until it is tender and ready to express all the tasting notes of a traditional espadin mezcal. It is made in the traditional Oaxacan method, dating back four-hundred years.
